How much benefit is lost if one starts working again? Is this a disincentive to work? Better scrap all benefits and replace them with a universal income at a level which allows one just to scrape by, then have a flat rate of tax on ALL income from all sources deducted at source so that income earned is all retained.
On face value you are right Reem the sick people have increased. But it is more about the poor economy. The ability to borrow more to cover the deficit against the knee jerk reaction of thinking the poor sick or disabled or the unemployed or, let’s face it the unemployable are all a target of the inept and clueless politicians of all party’s! If the NHS can’t cope then of course the ill the infirm are growing in number as the inability to cure them increases! But let’s face it who wants to employ a villain or a slacker or a drug dependent! The politicians are deluded to think it’s possible to cut the needy. Let’s just agree those who work do and those who abdicate don’t! But it’s naive and clueless to think they are not taxpayers too! A homeless tramp beggar comatose on the village green has just paid 73% of Duty and Vat tax on his bottle whisky! In FACT people who SPEND ALL their money every month pay as much tax as they can! It’s the rich and mega wealthy who don’t pay as much tax! Their UNSPENT money every month contributes NO tax to the economy. NONE!
That’s the problem! The money not spent in our working economy means the working pot that pays tax revenue is devoid of the massive amount unused and unspent! Money taxed id just one amount but money spent into and through the economy that spends money pays the tax! Those who have money unspent pays No tax snd there is the problem in a nutshell. We the taxpayers are devoid of the money held outside and do it can not support the level of taxation we need to pay our way. So point the none taxpayer finger at them not the poor or infirm or disabled or the working poor! They should point their tax paying finger at the rich as they are the fault for small tax revenue take. If they were to spend more it would mean the money contributes exponentially to the paying tax economy ! So we need a spending policy Reem! By those who have too much of it!!
